Actually Hemingway's book is the best known use of this phrase and it predates the Fairport Convention by a number of years.
Ironically, if this had been about half the size it would have been perfect for the Feast prompt over at numb3rs100. I was actually anticipating someone would write a fic with this title when I posted that prompt. LOL!
