Title: The Inevitable Conclusion
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie, Alan
Rating/Category: PG13
Spoilers: None
Summary: Don knew he and Charlie would get found out eventually
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ
Room 4A - Special Agent Donald Eppes
The interrogation room table is cool and slick under his palms.
He studies his fingers splayed across the fake wood surface.
He does not speak.
He has no experience on this side of the table, but he knows enough to lawyer up.
He prays Charlie does the same.
+
Room 4C - Professor Charles Eppes
He fidgets incessantly and asks for his brother every five minutes.
He swears there's been some kind of misunderstanding until they tell him what the charge is.
He says nothing for a good twenty minutes, then quietly asks that someone call his lawyer.
He also begs them not to call his father.
+
Room 4B - Alan Eppes
They put him in the observation room and let him sweat for a while.
He watches both sons, but is not allowed to listen to the audio from either room.
He's furious by the time the detective walks in, yelling at the top of his lungs that his sons are innocent of this ridiculous charge.
Then they play the audio tape.
Alan listens, stunned, until it comes to its conclusion.
He throws up in the trash can and walks out without a word.
The detective doesn't stop him.
+
Charlie wrings his hands and keeps glancing at the door.
Alan drives home and silently begins packing his things.
Don always knew this was the inevitable conclusion to his relationship with Charlie.
Then again, his relationship with Charlie was inevitable too...
