Disclaimer: Not mine, only borrowing, just fun, no infringement intended
Curiously, his sleep in space was not dreamless. Rarer still was his Aunt Louise’s absence from those dreams and that his organs were not at risk, though his body was certainly a subject and in close proximity to that of the ever-lovely Megan Reeves. His mental nocturnal ventures were marked with visions of limbs entwined and softly-whispered platitudes of some strong emotion of attachment he was still too hesitant to label as love. She was one with the stars, two types of heavenly bodies aligned in perfect symbiosis – before him, below him, surrounding him.
He spent his days on the space station absorbed in analyzing the data cultivated. His mind was consumed by the complexities of this uninhabited other world uninhibited in its possibilities. It was everything he had hoped it would be and more, and he was liberated, feeling validated for having cast off the material shackles of modern life for the sake of this pursuit. Larry had never felt as at peace with his existence as he did when enveloped by the splendor of those celestial bodies that had captivated his imagination since the time he held his first telescope, a three-year-old’s wide eyes scanning the surface of the moon.
But when he laid down under the blanket of stars and endless night, he found himself in want of more base and terrestrial wonders. He had memorized the shape of Megan’s body like he had the constellations, glorious flaws such as story-tale scars and freckles as the points for the connecting lines to be drawn. Her eyes held the same magnificent twinkle as the stars, her smile the glow of the cosmos. In the great expanse of hot-burning bodies of light, he saw Megan.
It was only then that he wished on those very stars and shooting comets to replant his feet on the firm soil of Earth.
