It's his ghost that keeps them apart.

Two together, yet incomplete, even after they can't help but talk around talking about him.

"I miss him."

Charlie finally breaks the fragile silence with the words they think but must not say.

"Don't..." Billy warns

They both loved him.

Neither can bring him back.

Not with Billy's strength, his gun, his badge, his alpha leadership...

Not with Charlie's genes, his dark hair, his familiar yet dissimilar features...

Not with Don's cologne all over them...

Not in his bed...

"Damn it, Charlie!" Billy pulls away, the unspoken name like a splash of ice water on their afterglow. "I miss him too," he finally mumbles, breaking.

Charlie wraps himself around him, seeking and offering comfort, and it begins again.

It's his ghost that keeps them together.

I've never done a song title challenge but song lyric prompts are incredibly popular in my other world, and I love working with them. I kind of like them because they...for want of better words they put the words in a new order and make you think new thoughts.
