When Charlie ended a hostage-taking situation with as much as a thrown handful of purple glitter, Don was impressed. Well, he was impressed, flabbergasted, surprised and suspicious.
When Charlie, later as he gave his report, calmly stated - calmly and blatantly lied - that it was plain sand that he threw into the hostage-taker's face, Don was impressed, shell-shocked, surprised and very, very suspicious.
When he now - three weeks later - thought about the insanity of the whole stuation, he couldn't fathom what had gotten into him that he hadn't said anything at all about it.
Hadn't said anything to his colleague - Charlie is lying.
Hadn't said anything to Charlie - what are you thinking lying to a FBI agent? What exactly were you throwing at that guy's face? Why did you throw glitter at him? What was that stuff that made a six feet tall man loose consciousness in the matter of seconds?
What the fuck, Charlie? What the fuck?
He would confront his brother tonight - never mind the guest, the old friend, that Charlie was going to introduce to him. This secret would not be a secret for much longer.

Don turned off the car's engine and made his way up to the front door. Charlie opened the door for him and ushered him into the house and Don knew that he had to breech the topic immediately or otherwise he wasn't going to have a chance at a silent minute alone with Charlie this evening.
"Charlie, I wanted to ask you about-" "Don, good, finally, you know you're late, don't you? I want to introduce you to somebody. Yo!" "No, Charlie I-"
"Here, may I introduce to you Don Eppes, my brother? Don, likewise, this is Mr. Alexander Harris."
"Call me Xander," said the one-eyed man sitting on the couch.
+++
Don would have never expected the momentousness of that night's first meeting would have on his entire life.
